In today’s Going Solo:

  • Stuff worth knowing: Black History Month

  • News that caught our eye: Instagram expands Creator Marketplace

  • Discover a new creator:  Brittany Worthington on Instagram Growth

It’s Black History Month!

Black History Month is all about honoring the richness and diversity of Black culture.

But it's not just about sharing a Martin Luther King Jr. quote and calling it a day.

It's a chance to really educate your audience, lift up Black creators and businesses, and push for real change. 🚀

Black creators are instrumental in shaping and driving trends within the Creator Economy. ✨

While it's great that many brands are looking to collaborate with them on social media, it's important to make sure that it's not just a one-time checklist item.

And in honor of Black History Month, we wanted to shine a light on some incredibly talented and dedicated content creators and their brands. They inspire us with their leadership and the way they use social media to forge connections and share knowledge.👇🏻

Instagram expands Creator Marketplace to 8 new countries

Instagram kicked off testing its marketplace back in 2022 in the U.S. Since then, they've brought aboard "thousands" of creators and brands.

And now, they're rolling it out to more markets, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Japan, India, and Brazil.

In the coming weeks, both brands and creators in these eight new regions will receive invitations to join the marketplace.

Creators will have a new folder on Instagram called “Partnership messages,” where they can keep track of requests and chats with brands from the marketplace. They can even check the campaign details right on the app.

This move brings Instagram up to speed with rivals like Snap, YouTube, and TikTok, which also offer creator marketplace features. Plus, there are startups out there aiming to solve the same problem of connecting brands with creators.

We're optimistic about the potential here. It could make it a breeze for brands to find just the right creators for their campaigns, while also giving creators a shot at getting noticed by brands.

Good stuff, right?
