William Zinsser on Writing

William Zinsser’s On Writing Well is one book you’ll find in every writer’s closet. Packed with great advice on ideating, writing, and how difficult it is to write or create — this book is honest, and if you’re a creator who hasn’t gotten their hands on this book yet, it’s time you do.

Lines from the book that we keep thinking about every time we..well, include fluff in our writing. 👇

You’re Not Slaying Enough if You Haven’t Heard of Slayy Point

Run by YouTubers Abhudaya and Gautami, Slayy Point’s videos will make you laugh like there’s no tomorrow. From discussing 90s movies to great commentary on TV serials and fashion, this YouTube channel is quite relatable. Especially if you’re a millennial looking for content in the Gen Z world.

With about 7.3M followers on YouTube and 1.3M Instagram followers, they started their content creation journey in 2016 and achieved their first million followers in 2019.

Check out Slayy Point’s most popular video — one that made them viral. 👇

Instagram Launches a ‘Creator Media Kit’ for Creators

The thing about Instagram is you can hate it or love it but you simply can’t ignore it. Especially with the slew of features it introduces time and again.

This time, it’s a Creator Media Kit, an in-app media tool that intends to guide creators in their creative and business journey. Called a Creator Portfolio, this feature allows creators to build proper business pitches, seek collaborations, and share their profiles directly with potential partners and brands. It’s like a marketplace, but even better — because Instagram is experiencing a FOMO (thanks to YouTube and TikTok) and fully intends to offer more monetisation options to its creators. 👀

Brands are Hiring TikTok Influencers to Run their Accounts

Remember there was a time when creators would quit their full-time jobs to actually create full-time?

Things are changing now — creators are now moving to traditional jobs, thanks to the internet. With a steady demand for social media and content creation roles, brands prefer working with creators as they already know the ropes. Building a brand’s social comes naturally to them.Â đŸ”„

Liz Flora has written an excellent essay for Glossy on this that you should check out.
